At work

I am at work and very board. I should be grateful that all I have to do is walk around a building three times in a shift and watch cable t.v. the rest of the time and have access to the the internet. I wish school would start back up. I could do homework. I will have two on line classes and three regular classes. I am moving and working three jobs. I sound like a broken record, however, I have to remind myself that it is all worth it. I am moving back to a city that I used to work in as an officer. I feel safe for the area that I am in. I just hope that they will leave my car alone. So I am saying a prayer to the Lord to keep me safe and bless me with a car to drive.

Some good news

Well one of my friends from the police department that I worked for is going back to work and is getting his back pay. The city admitted they were wrong. The city attorney threatened this officer trying to intimidate information out of him. He told my friend "you don't know who your messing with" and proceeded to attempt to terminate him. Hooray!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He is going back to work. Now I wonder if he will be willing to share his information with me so I can use it to prove the city had malice in forcing 11 of us out in less then one year. Will he or will he not share that proof is the question?

My experience with law enforcement

My experience with law enforcement. Where to begin? It can be a fun, eventful, never a dull moment job. Depending on where you work of course. Rural areas are a bit dull compared to the inner city and its suburbs. I worked in a couple of suburbs outside of Detroit. In one city some of the stop signs had bullet holes in them along with some of our patrol cars. The other city was no big deal. It had a bunch of people that thought they were gangsters, they just didn't cut it. Not to glamorize thugs. Its just funny to see people act as if they are more then they are. That includes the police.

In both cities there were only two female officers. I, being one of them. I could count on one hand the number of officers that were faithful to their wives. The sexual harassment runs deep. You could only put up and shut up. Unless you liked going on dangerous runs alone with not one to back you up. It's truly a good ol' boys club. The second city near south west Detroit was a joke. Most of the officers were afraid of their own shadows and floated in on the tales of toughness of another officer. The canine officer used his dog as a bully and intimidator. Even on young children. He would not be caught dead without the dog. Not to mention the dog couldn't sniff out a can of alpo in a warehouse let alone any narcotics. This same canine officer was convicted of drinking and driving and drove around on a restricted license even at work. Did this stop his drinking habit. Ohhhhhhhnooooooooo. You can find him at the local tavern serving himself and others until he is fall down drunk. One officer hid in an ambulance, on camera, proclaiming he was locked in while other officers where out fighting with a large group of people in the street. On that same scene another officer was giving orders from afar and another was hiding behind a patrol car. Another officer is a corporal and was a former narcotics officer. It was a known fact that he would steal and extort money out of the raids. He would forfeit items and take them home for himself. One probationary officer has a PPO against him for threatening and harassing his girlfriends ex. A senior officer was just convicted of Domestic Violence and yet another threatened people, in a drunken stooper, with his gun. A command officer has been caught stalking a women in town and has been seen by other officers in the alley outside of her home in different patrol cars. He doesn't think anyone has noticed. Wait there is more. The former city attorney has been disciplined by the state attorney disciplinary board for failure to provide his client with information on her own case and failure to file court papers for her case. The Mayor was convicted of CSC4 in 1995. It was said not to be the only time he raped someone, just the time he was charged and convicted. Don't know how true that is. The former city attorney (just voted out by the city council last week) assaulted a women back in the spring and an officer this past spring as well. The city attorney and mayor forced out 11 officers with in one year, including a chief, and went through 3 chiefs in one year. The mayor hired many convicted felons for city work including a former officer of the same department that was terminated and convicted of a felonious assault. I probably left a few things out. Not to worry they will come back to me.

When you sit back and look at all that is going on in that department. One could only be horrified at the fact that those same people are running the city, stealing from the city and protecting the city. What is scarier is that this is not the only city of its kind. Many police departments are filled with dysfunctional officers who ride around violating all traffic laws, (no officer will give another officer a ticket) breaking laws, (drinking and driving, use of narcotics, stealing, assaults ect...) and getting away with it. They go play with their mistresses and then maybe go home to their wives and children. They come to work to right tickets and arrest people for some of the same crimes they commit. This is just my personal experience. Female cops included in this as well. I was not perfect and now look back and see what I would change and how I would react to it all. I know that in the end, these officers lay there lives on the line every day for the rest of city they work in. Not many people would do that. Why these officers stay officers is another story. For some it is a power and control thing. For some it started out as a way to help the community. For others.....who knows. I have to say that not all officers are like this. This certain department is just overrun with dysfunctional (nice term) officers. They are everywhere in every department. However, like I said there are some good officers with skills and lots of heart.

I am at work for the next sixteen hours. I work doubles on the weekend. I work Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays taking care of an elderly lady and her down syndrome son who is 42 years old. Once a week I clean one of her other sons house and on Thursdays I clean my boyfriends house. Monday, Tuesday and Thursday I go to school in the evenings. I rarely have time to breath and take time for myself. In the end when I am finished with school my son can come home and start college. I can be the mom I am supposed to be. I really want for him to be home while he attends college. I would like to have a place by then that has an upstairs for an apartment. I have such grand ideas for not being finished with school. Just one thing at a time.

However, I have to keep my future goal in my head. Focusing on now will help me get there.

I do have to tell a story about my job taking care of Mrs. A and her son. As I said before her son is 42 years old with down syndrome. Well last week while we were at Meijer he bent over and kissed the ass of a lady. No he did not know her and to hers and my dismay, he laid a big one right on her butt. I think I was more horrified then she was. I grabbed his hand, said a quick sorry to the lady and said to him "M you can't do that" I told him that we had to tell his mother. He said "no don't tell my mother," which says that when he has been scolded he knows that he was wrong. How long he retains it is another thing. She was not surprised as he apparently has done this before. Accept he only pinched the ladies butt that time. I have to say that I do love working for Mrs. A and her son. I love helping people. They are pleasant down to earth people. That is refreshing.

When I was a police officer I had such a tainted view of people. That is slowly dissipating. Many officers have a hollier then now, its us versus them attitude. Very unhealthy.
